The Winnie Mae on Display

When it debuted in 1927, the Lockheed Vega made other single-engine planes obsolete. It quickly became the preferred choice for many record setters. Post modified the Winnie Mae with long-range fuel tank, a hatch on top for celestial sightings, and side ports for drift sightings.
