From aviator to starlet

Ruth Elder poses in a publicity still for Universal’s “Winged Horseman” (1929) while holding a model evocative of her transatlantic Stinson. She successfully parleyed her aeronautical fame into a brief Hollywood career. Unfortunately, her staying power as a star was similar to her fame as an aviator and her career quickly fizzled. This Hoot Gibson production was the height of her career.
