Two people work on a Deep Space Network antenna. To concentrate enough power for receiving and sending data, the huge antenna focuses a narrow microwave beam that must be aimed precisely at the spacecraft. To remain fixed on it, the antenna must continually move at the precise rate of the Earth’s rotation—0.004 degrees per second.
