Transit Receiver Mounted in a Vehicle in the Egyptian Desert

Smithsonian geologist Ted Maxwell used the Transit system in the Egyptian desert in 1987. The system’s compass is the black triangular device in the center above the windshield. The receiver was mounted inside the vehicle.
